Web links...

I totally missed the part that we need to post lists of weblinks...  So, I guess my next 3 posts will be dedicated to weblinks...

favorite artists
Billy Joel... He has been my favorite artist for as long as I can remember.  I have only been to one concert in my life and it was a Billy Joel, Elton John concert.  It was fantastic!!!  Here is a brief clip from his signature song in case you have not heard of him...
Piano Man

Billy Joel's Official Website

I must once again thank professor Shiflet for this class.  In doing this blog post, I found something I never knew about...
Billy Joel & Shea Stadium

Of course, growing up in Norwalk Connecticut if you were at all into baseball you have a choice of 3 teams to cheer for... The Boston Red Sox... The New York Yankees... The New York Mets...  Well, since I never believed in the American League (They play by the wrong rules ;) ) that left The New York Mets!!!  They were and always will be my team.  A year or so ago, they tore down Shea Stadium which was the home for the Mets.  That was a sad day for me.  Now to find out there is a documentary all about Shea, and Billy Joel has done the music for it... OMG!!!!  I just wish I could be in NY this weekend.

To read more about Shea click here...

Shea Stadium
I did a web search on Shea to get more photos, you can views those photos by clicking the caption on the above picture, or by clicking here... You can find all sorts of pictures, including one of Shea and the New City Field.

Designing in 3D complete...

Using Sketch-up was more of a challenge then I expected it to be...  My building wound up only being 4 stories, because I just ran out of time.  Spending better then 4 days working on this project, I realized that you can not be too ambitious and totally create a building in this...

Here are some pictures of the insides of my building...

Poetry in Motion...

My 7 year old son just spent this morning wrestling in his first meet, match, or tournament, whatever you want to call it.  You see wrestling is different from any other sport my two children have tried so far.  The practices are CLOSED... :O

I totally understand the reasoning for this.  The wrestling room is a small space, and to fit 40+ kids, 10 coaches, and all of their parents would just not be reasonable.  Also, some parents just do not seem to understand the importance of staying off the mats.  It seems to be a very difficult concept that your shoes have germs on them that could contribute to skin diseases.  Not to mention, some parents can be very distracting to their kids trying to learn.

Anyway, my son did so well on Sunday.  He made his dad very proud.  He lost his first 2 matches, but I am sure that was more because he did not understand the scoring system in wrestling.  Once we took a little time to explain it to him, siting examples of how he "gave away" points in the second match, he improved even more.

Match 1... My son 7 -- challenger 8...
Match 2... My son 8 -- challenger 13...
Match 3... My son 12 -- challenger 9...

Match 2 and 3 were against the same kid (and she is a girl a very tough girl)...

My wife took video of match 3, so if I can get it out of her camera, I will add it here...

Completed... So you think you can drum???

Sorry if this page takes a little while to load, but here is my video creation.  Using Adobe Premier was a lot of fun, and a lot of learning.  Please take 2.5 minutes of your busy day, and have a watch.  I would love to see your comments.

Thanks,

Curt

Harry Potter...

Well, I am currently 5 blog posts short for the class...  And I have one week left... Let's see if we can get a couple more done.  Movies and Books are a type of Artwork in my opinion.  I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how much Harry Potter is a good series.  We just got back from watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1)...  WOW...  And to top it off, they cut the movie at the perfect place...  The even better part about this, is we only have to wait about 6 months until part 2 comes out... Can't wait...

So you think you can Drum???

Well the next project is to take several copyright-free videos, and mash them together and change them up so that you change the meaning of them.  I will be taking several clips of drummers, and making a TV type show out of it...  Well, a comercial for a TV type show for it...
This is page 1 of 4 for the story board.  Once I complete the video, I will post it here...

Feel free to make any comments about what you think.

Thanks,

Curt

Futurism... Art...

Futurism began in Italy.  The artists last name is Boccioni.  You do not get much more Italian then that, so this must be Futurism... Right???

Seriousy though, Futurism is based on the glorification of the machine and denunciation of classical art.  This painting almost has mechanical qalities to it, and it is far from classical. Motion, speed, and dynamics are part of Futurism.  The reds and the swirls in this painting almost give me the feeling of running.  I also see some qualities that could lead to "punk" type of paintings as well.  I love this piece, and can get lost in it...

My Poll...

Has anyone seen the survey at the bottom of my Blog?  I am curious as to what everyone is majoring in, so I figured I would ask.

The Poll closed on September 30th, but with only one response so far, I figured that I would update the end date.  It will now remain open until December 30th.

If you get a moment, please look below and answer the question.

Thank you for your time,

Curt

If I had a hammer...

A hammer is a good tool.  It can be used for builing stuff, hanging things on the wall, tearing down things, and even removing nails or whatever was used to hand things on a wall.  The hammer is an extremly versitle tool.  The hammer also has some good qualities when it comes to art.  Have you ever seen a hammer look like this?

Tell me what you think of my hammer... :D

My New Blog...

I am not one for blogging, so I am not really sure what I am supposed to post here.

I am going for an Associates Degree in Applied Science with an emphasis in Web Technology at Anne Arundel Community College.  I have all of my core courses done, so now, I am working on the degree specific classes.  This semester I am taking CSI128 - Introduction to World Wide Web Publishing (Dreamweaver) and CAT111 - Digital Design Foundation.  I am thinking about adding another class in October, but we will see how these two go first... :)

I have 2 sons.  One is 6, the other is 11.  The 11 year old decided to fly over the handle bars of a friends bicycle after unsuccessfully trying to jump over a curb.  The front wheel stopped short, he went over the handle bars, braced his landing with his left hand (he is left-handed) and broke both the radius and ulna.

Well, that is about it for now, feel free to let me now how I am doing... :D
